  1. Shoe review - SKETCHERS!

    Runner's World Shoe Review:
    http://www.runnersworld.com/shoe/skechers-gorun-ride-3-womens

Just around the corner from my house a new Sketchers outlet recently opened. My husband the 'shoe diva' had to stop in the first week and check out what they had. Yes, he did come home with a new pair - and even a pair for me :). And yes, this was all on the heels of Meb Keflezighi's win at Boston - in you guessed it - a pair of Sketchers. Of course my hubby Dave has given me (the notoriously superstitous shoe shopper) an ear load on them. Honestly folks, I find a running shoe I love and than I really don't want anything else. Let me be clear - it drives me crazy when shoe designers change my favorite pair - UGGH! I will usually scour ebay buying every pair I can find of my favorite model. To me he process of finding a good quality running shoe can be a nightmare. But alas, D showed up with a pair in hand and I decided to give em' a whirl. Boy was I surprised!

He brought me home a pair of the new "Go Run Ride 3" 's a couple months ago and from the moment I slipped them on I was instantly in love. Unlike all the other shoes I own (Hoka's included) I have to admit these suckers are so SWEET! Truly like running on marshmellows...very flexible, a cushy ride, great on the toes, and responsive! One thing I strongly dislike about Hoka's is the loss of what I call "feeling the ground". For me with trail running in particular I need to have a shoe I can 'feel the ground' in. It helps me be nimble on my feet and navigate trails more efficiently. I also have had tremendous toe issues in some of my Nike's and I have to admit the Sketchers Go Run Ride 3 has a really nice, roomy toe box. The roomier toe box has been a tremendous help in alleviating some of my toe issues.

So all together I give it a big thumbs up! The price - unbelieveable. I just got my Sketcher's Membership card and got two pairs for $40 a piece - what a steal!!

    Happy Shopping all~

  2. So it's almost Christmas.....

And if you are an endurance athlete I am sure you've already made your "wish list". Do I want that cool pear of hubs to trick our my new ride ($800 please) or should you get a new wet suit, try a SUP, or lots of other things. What's on my list?? Well a few things really.....but really I am not one to spend wastefully. I am also a bit superstitious so once I find a piece of equipment I can't live without I tend to use the hell out of until I actually kill it.

That brings me to the case in point...my wish list. What made my holiday wish list this year?? Well since I think I've finally killed my old Garmin 310XT and its time to step up to something new. As I was not a big fan of the 910 I opted to buy another used 310 XT off Ebay and didn't look back.

But now there are some pretty cool new ones on the market....specifically the new Garmin 920 and the Timex.

I have to admit these two newer units are pretty impressive. Its great to see Timex finally come out with a new products that's interesting. I think the music feature is pretty cool, but alas it looks like there is some sort of data plan you will eventually have to pay through AT & T.

Both watches also have the 'Live Track' feature that lets your loved know where you are much like the cycling unit. As a long distance athlete I find this feature pretty awesome!

While I like both I think the Garmin is still going to be the way to go for me. The battery life seems much longer and with the recovery and new run feedback information systems it seems like a much more performance oriented piece of equipment.

Other than that the usual stuff can be found on my list....a new road id, swim suit, and extra socks or goggles in the stocking are always nice.

    Happy Holidays all!
